My apologies if this is a limitation mentioned elsewhere. I'm having trouble creating maps deeper than 3 or 4 links. e.g. if I follow the links

Main Page > Portal:Science > Natural Science > Physics

…the map will create a map down to Natural Science, but won't go past physics. I'll click Physics (or other links from the page) and nothing happens. Thanks for any illumination on the matter. Keep up the great work!

Tom, you're the first person in my knowledge to encounter this problem. Does it occur repeatedly? If so, could you contact me with some more details about what exactly you're doing?

Dan, I'll be testing with Safari 3 soon, I think the bookmark javascript support has been taken (hopefully temporarily) out of the beta...

Timmy, you can choose View -> Detach Pages to get the page network in a separate window.

Ron, the search function has intermittently shown some trouble, but it works consistently now on my system (and most others, seemingly.) Do you have any special Google or network configuration? Please e-mail me the details if you want.
The right-clicking problem is a bug and will be fixed asap. I don't understand the problem you're having with clicking links that are not responding. On which kind of pages are these? While AJAX-redirects such as in Gmail won't work, static links and especially mediawikis should just work fine, otherwise, do tell me!

John, Tiddlywiki relies quite heavily on JavaScript, so the new beta of Safari might stutter. Your links work perfectly though on my system with Safari 2.x...(although the loading takes a while, without any progress indication)

I think, as Sam suggests, Safari 3 is still quite buggy (especially in the javascript field) and that will affect all applications which use WebKit (such as Pathway and most other apps with browsers). So Pathway + Safari 3 + JavaScript-heavy pages is a dangerous combo at the moment, and I won't be able to resolve most of the troubles arising there. If any of the other problems persist, please contact me via e-mail, and try to be accurate as possible, that makes it a lot easier to track down problems.

Thanks for all feedback!

Hi John,

I've had a lot of troubles with Pathway... Since the day I've installed Safari 3. (Other programs were affected as well...)

You should try to uninstall it and see if it solves your issues.

BTW, Excellent app !

iMac G4/800MHz/768MB RAM - unaltered Mac OS X10.4.9 - Safari Version 3.0 (522.11) - Pathway Version 1.0.5

I have used the "Open in Pathway" script successfully. When I open http://www.tiddlywiki.com/ in Pathway using the script, Pathway freezes.
http://www.giffmex.org/twfortherestofus.html freezes Pathway.
http://tiddlyspot.com/twhelp/ freezes Pathway.

http://tiddlywikiguides.org/index.php?title=TiddlyWiki_Guides works.

Thanks for the great app

when i click "add page", i search for iphone. it shows no results - if i click the "insert page(s)", it does find the iphone article correctly.

the first few clicks w/in the iphone article works correctly, adding new pages to the network. however, after a while, clicking on links no longer do anything. if i right-click, i can choose to open the link, but it doesn't add the new page to the network diagram.

oh, and then selecting the page i was originally on before r-clicking does not bring me back to the said page.

are these known issues? it appears quite buggy... the concept of this app is amazing and would be extremely useful for me - but i'm having a hard time using it...

The app is wonderful in its concept. However, on my small iBook screen, the setup with the three panes is too cramped. Yes, it would be nice to have a widescreen Mac, but many people don't have one. Many people, and I suspect many students, still have an iBook or 12" Powerbook. And it's simply no fun running the app when the webpage is so small.

I would rather see the whole Page Web in a HUD. It doesn't have to be visible all the time. You simply activate the Page Web HUD from the toolbar, like the currect Info and Images HUD, when you need to have that overview. The Page Web will show up over the web page. You have an overview, you click on something and close it again. It will work for me. And if you do have a big widescreen Mac, you can simply leave the Page Web HUD open.

Congratulations for your Apple Design Award!

P.S. While on Wikipedia, please, check out the article on Vannevar Bush's Memex and its assosiative trails. While the current web is full of "associative links", in the original article, Memex is described mainly as a personal information management tool, which makes it possible to build personal trails (or paths) meaningful for its individual user. I think that Bush's original idea of meaningful personal trails have long been lost with current web browsers. It's good to see that someone is finally getting the idea. Keep up the good work!
